Research Day
Every spring, UW-Stout's campus transforms into a public showcase of what applied learning actually produces.
Research Day brings together students from every discipline and every level—from first-year students to senior capstone teams, graduate researchers, and faculty collaborators—to share the work they've been building all year. And "presenting" means something different at a polytechnic university. Alongside professionally aligned research posters and exhibits, you'll find working physical prototypes, fashion collections, video projects, interactive demonstrations, and design installations. The range reflects the breadth of impact UW-Stout students and faculty have on society: If it investigates a real problem and proposes a solution that works in the world, the world deserves to know.
The event also includes collaborative oral presentations where faculty mentors and students walk attendees through their research process and field live questions, a WiSys Quick Pitch competition where students make a three-minute case for their innovations before a panel of judges, and an award ceremony recognizing the outstanding student and faculty researchers of the year.
Research Day isn't a capstone event for a select few. Business and industry partners attend alongside the public—not just to watch but to engage with the students whose work may solve problems they care about.
