Labs & Studios
3x Labs & Studios as Traditional Classrooms
At traditional four-year universities, lab work comes later in your education, if at all. At UW-Stout, labs and studios are where your education lives.
Most of our students are learning and working hands on in labs in their first semester. Whether you pursue engineering, a lab science, design, cybersecurity, construction management, or psychology, you'll have access to labs and studio outfitted with the industry-standard equipment and software you'll use in your field, much of it donated by the companies that will eventually hire you.
Engineering and automation students have access to more than $1 million in robotics, 3D metal printers, plastics labs, materials removal labs, welding processes labs, and more. Construction, engineering, technology education and industrial design students have access to a 3D concrete printer.
Science students have biochemistry, biology, and physics labs; a greenhouse; and a cadaver lab.
Art and design students develop work in animation and game design studios, a product design studio, a motion-capture studio, and printmaking and graphics studios. We have a campuswide Fab Lab. And our labs go beyond technical disciplines.
Our Digital Humanities Lab, Social Science Research Lab, Psychology Experimental Lab, and Psychophysiological & Behavioral Research Lab give students in the humanities and social sciences the dedicated research infrastructure to identify real problems and propose evidence-based solutions. And this is only a small list of the labs waiting for your ideas.
